In the name of god men the year of our Lorde god, 1573 and

the 15 day of December I John Smyth of Waldringfelde

in the hundred of Carleforde in the countie of Suff[olk, labourer

beynge of good and perfitterememberancethankes be geven to

God Do make this my last testament conteynyngetherin

mylastewyll in forme&manerfolowyngeFyrste I commend

mysoule in to the hands of almyghtye god my onely

Saviour & redeemer and my bodye to be buried in the

Churcheyarde of Waldryngefelde.Imprimis I wyll Agnes

Smythe my wyffe shall have my houses & lands

In Waldryngefeldeduryngehir natural lyffe , And

Yff my wyffe be wyth childe I wyll that childe

shall have my houses and lands, to it and the heirs

of the bodyeLawfullyebegotton, and yf that childe

Dye wythouteysshews of the bodye lawfully begotton

Then I wyll that the youngest manchilde of my susters

childrennowebeyngealyfe shall have my howses

and lands to hym and his heires of his bodye

Lawfullye begotten and for lacke of ysshewe of his

bodye lawfully begotton I wyll my howses and lands

aforesaide shall remayne to the use of the poor of

thetowne of Waldryingefelde for ever, And I wyll

that two tenhantes of that manerfrometyme to tyme

shall take up my howses and landes, and paye the

Lordehysfynes, duties, &customes,, and also I wyll

twoChurche wardens of the same towne shall from

tyme to tyme see the distribution of the money

unto the pore of that paryshe that co[—-]met of thet

houses and lands as they wyll answer

before god.  Also I gave u[n]to every childe of my susters

1573  John Smith of Waldringfield.  Occupation labourer.  Buried in churchyard.

To Agnes Smythe his wife, his house and lands in Waldringfield.

If lack of issue then house and lands go to the use of the poor of Waldringfield.
