This is the Waldringfield History Group’s project to bring together all we know of the village and its people in the past.  If you want the village website for the 21st Century it’s here.

For a brief history of the village start here. There is an entry on  Waldringfield in the Domesday Book and a set of  Rivershall and Hilton Manorial Court Rolls at Suffolk Record Office from which we have translated extracts. We have a  Collection of Maps and  Archaeological Surveys have been made of some  Buildings and have started an  Oral and Video History Collection.  We have an extensive  Collection of Photographs which will appear on the site in due course as they can be loaded.

We aim to gather information on all  Aspects of Village Life in the past for our own interest but will also try to make a record for posterity of what’s happened in the village.  Much of our material is now on this site.   Please feel free to send us any information, documents or photos that can add to the collection.

Most years our group has presented a talk to the villagers.  Waldringfield  Post War Years, at Leisure, at Work, at War, Early Years and  A Walk Around.

For 2014/2015 we looked at our large collection of Wills and other legal documents (look under Documents) and presented our findings.

In 2017 we presented The “I Spy” talk.

Our current project has been to produce a book encompassing all the talks we have produced since our inception. ‘Waldringfield, A Suffolk Village beside the River Deben’ book was Published in September 2020 and is currently available from our webshop waldringfieldhistorygroup.fws.store
