This is the last Will and Testament
of me John Felgate of Kettleburgh in the County of
Suffolk Farmer made the twenty third Day of February
in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
eighty one as follows (that is to say) First I give
and Devise unto Sarah my loving Wife All that
Tenement or Dwelling House in the Occupation of John
Lay and also the piece or parcel thereto belonging in my
own Occupation with the Appurtenances situate lying
and being in Kettleburgh aforesaid To hold to her
the said Sarah my Wife and her Assigns from and
immediately after my Decrease for and during the term
of her natural life she committing no Waste but
keeping the Premisses in tenatable Repair during
the said Term And I Give and Bequeath unto her the
said Sarah my Wife and her Assigns one Annuity or
Yearly Sum of Twenty Pounds And to my Brother
Daniel Felgate and his Assigns one Annuity or
Yearly Sum of ten Pounds of lawful money of Great
Britain to be paid to them by four equal Quarterly

Payments without Decuction for and during the said
Term of their respective natural Lives at or in Church
Porch of the Parish Church of Kettleburgh aforesaid and
to be issuing out of and chargeable on my Messuages
Lands Tenements and Premisses herein after mentioned
The first payment tereof tobe made on that Day three
Months next after my Decease I Also I Give and
Bequeath unto the said Sarah m Wife a Bed and
such other furniture part of the Goods now being in my
Dwelling House as shall be thought needful for
furnishing a Room for her to Dwell in to be taken
at the Discretion of my said Wife and of my Executor and
Executrix hereafter named within one Month next
After my Decease I Give and Bequeath to Ann
Felgate my Daughter the Sum of eleven hundred
Pounds of like lawful money to be paid to her within
twelve Months next after my Decease with lawful
Interest for the same from the time of my said Decease
till payment thereof by my Son John Felgate out of and
for the Messuages Lands and Tenements herein after given
to him I also Give and Beqeath unto her the said

Ann Felgate one Moiety or half part of all my
household Goods Plate Linnen Furniture and Effects
which shall remain after such part thereof as I have
herein before given to my said Wife shall be taken
therefrom to and for the use and Benefit of my said
Daughter and at her own disposal And my Will is
that all the Stock of my Farm within Doors and without
Implements of Husbandry Backhouse and Dairy utensils
hereinafter otherwise Disposed of shall be excepted and of
the said Goods and Furniture so given to my said Daughter
And I do Give Devise and Bequeath unto my said Son
John Felgate all and singular my Messuages Farms
Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Appurtenances
whatsoever both Freehold and Copyhold situate lying and
being in Kettleburgh aforesaid Framlingham Badingham
and Ashfield in the said County of Suffolk or contiguous
or adjoining to any or either of those Parishes or elsewhere
in the said County not herein before otherwise disposed of
To hold to him my said Son John Felgate his Heirs and
Assigns immediately from and after my Decease And
I do Give and Devise unto him the said John Felgate my

Son All that my said Tenement or Dwelling House
in occupation f the said John Lay and the piece of
Land thereto belonging in my own Occupation in Ketleburgh
aforesaid with the Appurtenances To hold to him my
said Son John his Heirs and Assigns immediately from
and after the Decease of the said Sarah my Wife And
I do Give and Bequeath to the said John Felgate my
Son the other Moiety or half part of all mt said
Household Goods Plate Linnen Funiture and Effects
which shall remain after those be taken therefrom by
the said Sarah my Wife as aforesaid which said two
Moities shall be ascertained or valued for and delivered to
or taken by my said Son and Daughter by such fair
Judicious and Indifferent Person or Persons as they my
said Son and Daughter shall agree upon as convenient
may be and at longest within three Months next after
my Decease I also give and bequeath to my said Son
John Felgate all and singular other my Goods Chattles
Cattle Farming Stocks Implements of Husbandry And
also all my Backhouse and Dairy Utensils Moveables and
all Moneys due to me at my Decease or which I may

then having in my Possession and all other my Personal
Estate and effects whatsoever and hereinbefore his Executors
Administrators and Assigns immediately fro and after
my Decease to and for his and their own Use Benefit
and Disposal Provided nevertheless and my Will is
that all and singular the Messuages Lands Tenements
Hereditaments Goods Chattles and Premisses herein before
given to the said John my Son his Heirs Executors
Administrators and Assigns with the Appurtenances
Are so given to him Upon this Condition that
he or they shall and will well and truly pay or cause to
be paid all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary
Expenses Legacies and Annuities herein before given
And I do subject and charge all and every or any of the
Said Estates and Premisses with the Payment thereof at the
Days and times and in manner as above mentioned
And if Default shall happen to be made in payment
of the said legacies and Annuities or of any part thereof
contrary to the true Intent and meaning of this my Will
That then and so often as such Default shall happen

it shall and may be lawful for the Person or Persons
to whom such Default in payment shall be made his
her or their Executors Administrators Agents or Assigns
to enter into and upon all or any part of the aforesaid
Premisses chargeable with the payment thereof and to
receive and take the Rents Issues and Profits
his her or their own Use or Uses untill he she or they
shall be paid and satisfied the Moneys due to him her
or them and all Arrears thereof with lawful Interest for
the same from the time of the non-payment thereof
together with all such Costs and Charges as she or they
shall be put unto my means of such non-payment
(any thing herein before mentioned or contained to the
contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding and I
do make and appoint the said John Felgate my Son and
Ann Felgate my Daughter executor and Executrix of
this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking
all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof
unto this my last Will and Testament contained
and written three Sheets of Paper together annexed I
the said John Felgate the Testator have to be top of the

together set my hand and seal and to the bottom of each
sheet thereof have set my hand the Day and Year first
