Air Commodore Sir Peter Beckford Rutgers Vanneck, GBE, CB, AFC, AE, MA, DL (7 January 1922 – 2 August 1999) was a BritishRoyal Navy officer, jet pilot, engineer, stockbroker and politician. He made notable contributions to Anglo-French relations as Lord Mayor of London and as a Member of the European Parliament. Is down on the electoral Roll as living at “White Lodge” Mill Road in 1958. I thought he lived in Cliff Road? He certainly had a notable career including Sherrif of Suffolk. Co-incidentally the first was Australian and the second brought up there. Are there any Sailing Club connections with Sir Peter or Admiral Cresswell as both were sailors (bigger boats thought) ?
