We have a reference to Nautilus in the Waller Coprolite accounts.

Later on, apparently, Nautilus settled on a post up by Woodbridge in the 1920s and since the post was described as the best piece of timber in her we can assume that she was in poor shape by then. Shortly afterwards in 1928 she was purchased by the Skinners, possibly for the coal trade but was then sold again  and converted to a yacht then houseboat  in 1935.

Here’s a 1930s drawing of her from Yachting Monthly published “Sailing Barges”[foot]B10 Sailing Barges  – Frank G.G.Carr 1931[/foot] presumably relating to her conversion to a yacht.  She is believed to have been kept on the Deben so photos may exist somewhere in the area.

A series of models of Nautilus have been made for an american model magazine by W.Mowll as shown in the photo below. The model shows wheel steering although in the Coprolite era she is likely to have had tiller steering.
