Thomas Waller bought a half share in patronage, sharing it with the Lord Chancellor. It has passed down through the Waller family and his great grandson Alfred Waller has the half share. The Waller family have been Rectors continuously since 1862. Thomas 1862/1904 Arthur Pretyman Waller 1905/1947 Trevor Waller 1948/1974 John Waller 1974 to the present day.
Rev. Thomas Henry Waller was born in Waldringfield at White Hall farm in 1832, and inherited land from his father who died in 1834. Thomas died in 1920.
Coprolite Mining, in Waldringfield, was started in about 1858, on Thomas Waller’s land, the garden field part of White Hall farm. Later it was mined on some of the Glebe. From the coprolite royalties Thomas Waller built the first school room in Waldringfield 1864, and used some of the royalties on village charities i.e. the coal and blanket club.
