West side –

Cross Cottage – Originally a pair of Pretyman cottages, part of the Pretyman’s of Nacton, Foxhall estate. These cottages are recognisable as they had no front doors. Not as claimed by my father in law because Capt. Pretyman didn’t want the wives gossiping on the front door steps, but to make them look bigger. Whatever the reason a small front room with only one door would seem to be a good idea.

Halyards – Now a detached house but originally a pair of cottages, now much enlarged. Most likely where Mr. Bloomfield the carrier lived circa 1900.

Sweetbriar –  Another pair of old cottages which now a single dwelling. The property was made into one in the early 1970’s.
