It was built for Bob Gamham in the late 1950’s or early 60’s. His father in law, Mr. Goddard from Stonner Point, Cliff Road, was a builder so it might have been built by his firm. Bob Garnham was a very keen sailor, so Alan Matheson or Mike Nunn may know more about him. As far as I know he sailed in some of the important off shore races. As far as I can remember he sold the house to Reg Brown, before took over the Waldringfield boatyard.

Part of the front of the house is the main beam of the sailing barge AUDREY built at Ipswich and registered there in 1903. It was given the number 113756 at 58tons.  Audrey was lost in a collision with a steamer in Buttermans Bay, River Orwell in 1941. She was broken up at Ipswich and the timber salvaged was used in various farms etc. The reg tonnage is 58tons.
