The History group has remained steady in numbers and continues to be enthusiastic. The group met during the winter months and decided to concentrate on the topic of “Waldringfield at Work”. Also, over the winter we presented the 2009 “War” talk to a packed Sailing Club and, in a shortened version, to the top year of the School who were learning about World War Two.Some audio interviews were conducted to add to the oral history collection and photographic material as well as archeological artefacts continue to emerge.
A group visit was made to the Ipswich Transport Museum which may turn out to be a useful resource and several visits were made to Suffolk Record Office for research.
The results of our “Work” research were presented to an audience of around 130 at the village hall last week and were well received. Some copies of a DVD made of the 2009 talk were made available and a straw poll showed that there was sufficient interest to produce a 2011 Village calendar. Plans for the coming year have yet to be made but will probably include further village events and, eventually publication of material in print and online.
