The group has continued to flourish with around a dozen members. A shortened afternoon version of the 2008 talk was given to older folk.

We purchased an inexpensive voice recorder and have used it to capture a number of interviews conducted by team members with some of the older villagers. These now exist in digital form and are gradually being transcribed. Some earlier recordings made in the 1980s have also been digitised for posterity.

A good relationship has been established with a local metal detector enthusiast and he has donated several finds to the group.

The enthusiam generated in the village by the 2008 talk prompted villagers to bring forward more photographs and maps which have been recorded. These include a 1932 river racing map, 1928 Ordnance Survey and a 1950s village map. Some of these have been included in a Google Earth model of the village which has enabled us to show how Fishpond Road was re-routed in the 19th Century.

April’s presentation of Waldringfield at War was well received by the 130 or so who came along. The evening raised £130 for the hall and a similar amount for the group.  Thanks are due to the late Noel Edgar who, in his role as village recorder, preserved some of the key material that was used in the talk. As will have been apparent the talk was very much a team effort with all members contributing in some way. Hopefully further material will arise from villagers as a result of the talk.

For the coming year the agenda for the group includes:-

· Next year’s talk – Waldringfield at Work?

· A possible amended War presentation for the School.

· Repeating the talk for the WSC in October.

· Correcting the Roll of Honour.
